2MW Roof Integrated Solar PV System at PEPS-JV

Project: Design, Supply, Delivery, Installation & Commissioning Of 2 MW Roof Integrated Solar PV System

Economic & Social Impact:

The PEPS-JV factory, located in Batang Kali, Selangor, manufactures automotive parts. Set up 15 years ago, parts of the metal deck roof were breaking down and needed to be replaced. PEPS-JV appointed Gading Kencana to design, install and commission a solar PV system under the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) mechanism

Four of the five plants in the factory had the metal deck roof material removed and replaced with solar PV panels. This method added another 26 sen to the FiT rate. Throughout the 6 months when the PV panels were installed and tested on the roof, there was no interruption in the PEPS-JV manufacturing process. Testing and commissioning by TNB was scheduled during factory shutdown period.

Today, PEPS-JV enjoys a good return on their investment - 2MW roof integrated solar PV system on FiT mechanism. And they can lay claim as Malaysia’s largest integrated solar PV rooftop system.

Attached is an abstract from a satisfied client:

My PV daily yield for July 2013 (from TNB commissioning date on 09 July up to 30 July 2013)

My PV daily yield for July 2013 (from TNB commissioning date on 09 July up to 30 July 2013)

  1. The maximum daily yield was achieved on 10 July with 9.674 kWh.
  2. Total yield 152.93 kWh
  3. Daily performance peak occurs at around 3.30pm-4.00pm with around 1.9kW
  4. Weather in July had been mixed: cloudy, clear, hazy for a few days, rain with the occasional thunderstorm.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the system performance and once again I would like to thank you all for the superb project execution and delivery.

546kWp Building Integrated Solar PV System at Bosch Penang

Client: Robert Bosch (M) Sdn. Bhd

Project: Design and Install a BIPN system

Economic & Social Impact:

As part of its global commitment to mitigate global warming, Robert Bosch (M) Sdn. Bhd. has appointed Gading Kencana to install the second phase solar BIPV project on the rooftop of its production plant in Bayan Baru, Penang.

The system is expected to generate 779MWh of energy per year with a Carbon Emissions Reduction (CER) of 478.306 tonnes per year.

Suria 1000 Programme: Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) Project

Client: Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

Project: Design and Install a Grid-Connected BIPV system

Economic & Social Impact:

Under SURIA 1000, the UNDP-supported programme to encourage uptake of solar energy, Tesco Malaysia appointed Gading Kencana, a BIPV Approved Service Provider, to install a 30 kWp BIPV system for its Kulim outlet. This system generates 45,600 kWh of electricity per year with a Carbon Emissions Reduction (CER) of 27.25968 tonnes.

This move is in line with Tesco’s global commitment to mitigate climate change through its energy saving initiatives. The success of the project led Tesco to appoint Gading Kencana to install a PV solar system to power a recycling centre at the Ampang store to encourage its customers to recycle.

Rest and Recreation Facilities for Road Users – Fraser’s Hill, Pahang

Client: Raub District Council

Project: Install a Solar PV system for power generation at The Gap

Economic & Social Impact:

Gading Kencana was appointed by Raub District Council to install a Solar PV system for power generation at The Gap, a rest area for travelers before they continue their journey to Fraser's Hill.

With no grid system running through The Gap, the cost of extending the grid will be enormous both financially and environmentally. A Solar PV system was the obvious option, using the sun as a natural resource. Best of all, The Gap now uses clean power that does not add pollution or noise to this popular bird watching spot.

Powering of ICT Equipment in Rural Libraries

Client: Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission

Project: Install Solar PV systems to generate power for network applications under the Universal Service Provider 5 project

Extent: 19 rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak

Economic & Social Impact:

The Universal Service Provider 5 (USP 5) project is designed to promote the widespread availability and usage of network applications throughout Malaysia especially in the rural areas. Gading Kencana was given the opportunity to provide power to these rural facilities by installing Solar PV system to generate power.

By providing power to these rural areas, Gading Kencana has helped to improve the teaching and learning environment for rural children. This project spanned over 19 different areas in both Sabah and Sarawak.
